All ABOUT Dawn

Dawn has resided in Clayton and Henry Counties for over 22 years. Her family has worked and lived in the community her entire adult life. Dawn A. Menegos-Randolph was born at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Like most “Army Brats” she has traveled around the United States and throughout Europe while her family was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.

Dawn was raised in the Catholic faith by her parents, Jim and Maggie Menegos who reside in McDonough. Her father retired from a distinguished military career choosing Georgia as home base. Jim owned and operated Just Recycle Inc., Henry County Recycling. Her mother also served as an Army Reservist and retired from SP Recycling, the largest recycled newsprint manufacturer in the county. Upon graduation from Penn State Dawn moved to Georgia to spend time with her family and begin a life dedicated to public service.

Her start in politics was with the Clayton County Democratic Party as the County Campaign Director. In 1988 she managed the Riverdale office and helped Clayton County candidates and citizens during the summer primary and general election races. She also volunteered for the 1988 Democratic National Convention and then interned with the Georgia Democratic Party.

She served as a congressional aide to Senator Sam Nunn in the state office handling veterans’ affairs, natural resources, and small business concerns. Dawn is a life long learner and received a Master Degree in Public Administration at Georgia State while working first for the American Heart Association serving Clayton, Henry, Fayette and Spalding Counties. She then worked for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs working with local city and county governments to improve their management and budget functions.

Upon completing her Master Degree Dawn moved into public policy research and advocacy. Over the last fifteen years she has been assisting statewide non-profits and associations advocate for drug-free communities, access to health care and environmental issues. In January of 2002 she ventured out to form her own consulting firm to assist non-profits and associations maximize limited resources and advocate for their critical areas. She has successfully worked with many legislators in passing several important bills and securing funding for many programs which benefit our community.

Dawn is also an active mentor to young women entering the public sector through her sorority and non-profit organizations. She served as the President of the House Corporation Board for the Gamma Phi Beta Chapter at the University of Georgia. Dawn supports many charitable organizations which focus on people with disabilities, homelessness, domestic violence, animal shelters and the environment.
