Dawn On The
Issues
My top priority is to ensure that Clayton and Henry County citizens have a strong voice at the State Capitol. Because I am self-employed I do not represent any specific business interest but I do understand the struggles and issues facing small business owners, families balancing housing with health care costs, and TRAFFIC. An elected official can’t predict the challenges the state will face but I will be the voice of citizens and small business owners.
JOB creation and retention is
priority #1! I am working with small business owners to ensure
access to affordable working capitol and loans. I have seen the
opportunities for a green economy and want to ensure our community
benefits through these new ventures. All jobs are important for
a thriving community.
Tax Dollars
The most important issue affecting us each year is the state
budget. I have been a budget and policy analyst for fifteen
years. My understanding of the state budget process ensures
I will be a constant watch-dog when investing citizens’ hard earned tax dollars; which primarily fund education, health care and promote job growth. Because I know where the money is I will make sure we receive financial support for the growing transportation congestion. Public transit, rapid rail and park-n-ride must be accessible to all citizens. It is the catalyst for strong economic and community health.
Education
education, Education, EDUCATION!!! Over the last decade we
have seen both operating and building dollars reduced from
the state level, we can’t
sustain quality with these cuts. I want to work with students,
parents, teachers and our community to build a stronger education
system.
Environment
Strong advocacy to protect our natural resources while insisting
on smart growth strategies is critical to the Southern Crescents
success. Our community has many beautiful streams, wooded areas
and farms, which we must preserve for future generations. This
is where my family lives, works and plays and I want to keep
it a great place for the coming years!
I invite you to send
me your ideas, priorities and solutions. |
